Prayers of Intercession:
(Introduction and Conclusion from Revised Common Lectionary Prayers, copyright © 2002)
Lord God, friend of those in need, your Son Jesus has untied our burdens and healed our spirits. We lift up the prayers of our hearts for those still burdened, those seeking healing, those in need within the church and the world.
A brief silence.
We pray for the church and its leaders, that we may worship the Lord with gladness and sing praises to God all the day long. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
We pray for all the earth, that the abundance you have provided may cause all of creation to sing forth with joy. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
We pray for the nations of the world, that peace and justice may reign and that all people may enter your courts with gladness. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
We pray for greater faith, that we may know your steadfast love and grace in deep, powerful, and formative ways. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
We pray for all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit, that all your sheep may know the comfort of your love and presence. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
Here other intercessions may be offered.
We pray with thanksgiving for all who have walked the way before us, that their example strengthen our trust in your faithfulness to all generations. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
Hear our prayers that we may love you with our whole being and willingly share the concerns of our neighbors. Amen.
