Prayers of Intercession:

(Introduction and Conclusion from Revised Common Lectionary Prayers, copyright © 2002)

Lord God, friend of those in need, your Son Jesus has untied our burdens and healed our spirits. We lift up the prayers of our hearts for those still burdened, those seeking healing, those in need within the church and the world.

A brief silence.

You gather your church into one body, O Lord; we pray that the unity we have in you may overcome all divisions and schisms. Raise us up that we may boldly proclaim the eternal life we have in you. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

You have made creation to be interconnected and interdependent, O Lord; we pray that all of creation be renewed and restored. Move us to be greater stewards of what you have given us. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

You show us how to live in justice and peace, O Lord; we pray that the nations may work for the good of all the world. Grant us wisdom and courage that we may speak out on behalf of our neighbors. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

You show your steadfast love to us, O Lord; we pray that our trust in you be deepened and our hearts rejoice in you. Open our lips that we may sing forth in joy for the salvation you have worked in us. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

You do not forget your people, O Lord; we pray that your comforting presence be with all who suffer in any way (especially,…). Provide the bread of life to all who bear any pain. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

Here other intercessions may be offered.

You do not lose anyone, O Lord; we pray that we shall one day be united with all the saints who have gone before us. Work your mighty will throughout all time and strengthen our faith in your eternal promises. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

Hear our prayers that we may love you with our whole being and willingly share the concerns of our neighbors. Amen.
