Prayers of Intercession:

(Introduction and Conclusion from Revised Common Lectionary Prayers, copyright © 2002)

Sisters and brothers in Christ, God invites us to bring our doubts and fears, our joys and concerns, our petitions and praise, and offer them for the earth and all its creatures.

A brief silence.

God of the church, though it is broken, we pray that you work through it; bring healing and wholeness that schisms might be overcome and your holiness proclaimed. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

God of all life, though it is hurting, we pray that you sustain the earth and all its creatures with your vibrant life; that hunger and thirst might be no more. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

God of the nations, though greed and selfishness are rampant, we pray that your justice and peace may prevail; that the world may know your loving kindness. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

God of spirit and truth, though our eyes are often closed to your activity, we pray that your will be done; that your salvific plan for the world be fully realized. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

God of the broken, though many are in pain (especially,…), we pray that your comforting presence be known; that all might know life in you. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

Here other intercessions may be offered.

God of all times and places, though we are limited, we pray that your glory broaden our horizons; that we might better see the great company of all the saints and be strengthened by their lives and witness. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

Receive these prayers, O God, and transform us through them, that we may have eyes to see and hearts to understand not only what you do on our behalf, but what you call us to do so that your realm will come to fruition in glory. Amen.
