Prayers of Intercession:
(Introduction and Conclusion from Revised Common Lectionary Prayers, copyright © 2002)
God of mercy and healing, you who hear the cries of those in need, receive these petitions of your people that all who are troubled may know peace, comfort, and courage.
A brief silence.
Make your church a holy temple, O Lord; that we may share the good news of Christ with all the world and work for peace and justice among all people. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
Sustain fields and forests, rivers and oceans, O Lord; that the coming harvest may be abundant and provide for the needs of all creation. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
Break down barriers, O Lord; that all the nations of the world may work together for an end to violence, hunger, disease, and poverty . Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
Bring us ever closer to you, O Lord; that we may live out our citizenship in your kingdom even now as we work for its coming. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
Heal all who are in pain, O Lord; that your peace and wholeness win out over sickness and brokenness. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
Here other intercessions may be offered.
Build up our faith, O Lord; as you made our spiritual for-bearers into a firm foundation for us may we bear witness to the generations still to come. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
Life-giving God, heal our lives, that we may acknowledge your wonderful deeds and offer you thanks from generation to generation through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
