Prayers of Intercession:

(Introduction and Conclusion from Revised Common Lectionary Prayers, copyright © 2002)

Creator God, you call us to love and serve you with body, mind, and spirit through loving your creation and our sisters and brothers. Open our hearts in compassion and receive these petitions on behalf of the needs of the church and the world.

A brief silence.

Bless the church, O God, with a willingness to wrestle with our own hypocrisy and judgemental-ism; and turn us outward from our walls to love and serve our neighbor. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Bless creation, O God, through all those who are willing to speak out against pollution and the harm being done to what you have made; bring about wholeness and healing where there is brokenness. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Bless the brokenhearted, O God, with friends and family who will not let them go; and show your presence with those in darkness. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Bless all in any pain, O God, with healing and comfort; and help all who wrestle with disease and illness. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Bless this congregation, O God, and open our hearts to see your presence in our neighbors and in the stranger. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Here other intercessions may be offered.

Bless the saints in light, O God, and use their example to strengthen us still on the journey; help us to know the faith of all the saints, especially when our own faith is weak. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Holy One, hear our prayers and make us faithful stewards of the fragile bounty of this earth so that we may be entrusted with the riches of heaven. Amen.
