Prayers of Intercession:
(Introduction and Conclusion from Revised Common Lectionary Prayers, copyright © 2002)
Creator God, you call us to love and serve you with body, mind, and spirit through loving your creation and our sisters and brothers. Open our hearts in compassion and receive these petitions on behalf of the needs of the church and the world.
A brief silence.
We pray for the church; that it may be freed from all that stands in the way of bold proclamation of the love of God. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for creation; that it may be freed from human abuse and restored to the glory in which is was first made. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for our leaders; that they may be freed from selfish ambition and shown true wisdom and humility. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for all messengers of your word; that, like the archangel Michael, they may speak truth in the face of evil. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for all who suffer; that they may be freed from their bondage to sickness and pain. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for this congregation; that we may be freed from feat and anxiety, and work for justice and peace in our communities. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Here other intercessions may be offered.
We pray for all the saints who have gone before us; free us from doubt and sin that we may join them in your heavenly presence. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Holy One, hear our prayers and make us faithful stewards of the fragile bounty of this earth so that we may be entrusted with the riches of heaven. Amen.
