Prayers of Intercession:
(Introduction and Conclusion from Revised Common Lectionary Prayers, copyright © 2002)
God of revelation, as we gather in praise for the gracious mystery of your Son, we remember the many needs of your church and your world.
A brief silence.
Forgive the church for its many sins; keep us from judgement and exclusion and teach us to love and welcome all. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Forgive humanity for the damage we have done to your creation; raise up leaders who will work to heal the earth and restore it to wholeness. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Forgive the nations; redeem our systems of power and bring about your justice for all people. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Forgive us when we harm others; help us to reach out towards one another with love and reconciliation. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Restore the sick (especially,…); and forgive the greed that keeps medicine and care from those who need it. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Forgive us gathered here today; bring us back to the way of Christ, the way of sacrificial love. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Here other intercessions may be offered.
Forgive us when we doubt and ignore the witness of the saints; keep us steadfast in the faith and grateful to all who have proclaimed it through the generations. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Guide us on the path of salvation, O God, that the radiance and power of your Holy Spirit working in the world will gather together all peoples and nations in one community to offer you worship and proclaim your splendor. Amen.
