Prayers of Intercession:

(Introduction and Conclusion from Revised Common Lectionary Prayers, copyright © 2002)

God of revelation, as we gather in praise for the gracious mystery of your Son, we remember the many needs of your church and your world.

A brief silence.

Raise up leaders for the church, leaders who will boldly and loudly proclaim your Gospel of love and mercy for all the world. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Raise up leaders for the stewardship of creation, leaders who will work to restore creation and bring wholeness to the earth. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Raise up leaders for the nations, leaders that will act with humility and wise judgement for the sake of all people. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Raise up leaders in our communities, leaders that will strengthen and deepen relationship and reach out in welcome to those on the margins. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Raise up leaders in the medical community, leaders that will work diligently to find cures and offer new treatments. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Raise up leaders in this assembly, leaders that will challenge us when we are too comfortable and comfort us when we are in pain. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Here other intercessions may be offered.

We give you thanks for the leaders of the past, leaders who worked to share your light and love through the generations. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Guide us on the path of salvation, O God, that the radiance and power of your Holy Spirit working in the world will gather together all peoples and nations in one community to offer you worship and proclaim your splendor. Amen.
