Prayers of Intercession:
(Introduction and Conclusion from Revised Common Lectionary Prayers, copyright © 2002)
Creator God, you call us to love and serve you with body, mind, and spirit through loving your creation and our sisters and brothers. Open our hearts in compassion and receive these petitions on behalf of the needs of the church and the world.
A brief silence.
We give you thanks, O God, for teachers, theologians, and all those who help us to grow in faith. Raise up more leaders in the church who will challenge and encourage your people. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We give you thanks, O God, for the bounty of your great creation. Work in us and through us that we may be better caretakers of all that you have made. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We give you thanks, O God, for those who care for and support those struggling with mental illness. Grant healing and wholeness to the lonely and anxious. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We give you thanks, O God, for physicians, nurses, and all those who seek to restore people to health. Be with all who suffer and surround them with your loving arms. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We give you thanks, O God, for this community of faith. Deepen our faith and use us to work your will in the world. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Here other intercessions may be offered.
We give you thanks, O God, for the example of all the saints who have gone before us. Unite us all in praising and worshiping you. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Holy One, hear our prayers and make us faithful stewards of the fragile bounty of this earth so that we may be entrusted with the riches of heaven. Amen.
