Prayers of Intercession:

(Introduction and Conclusion from Revised Common Lectionary Prayers, copyright © 2002)

Creator God, you call us to love and serve you with body, mind, and spirit through loving your creation and our sisters and brothers. Open our hearts in compassion and receive these petitions on behalf of the needs of the church and the world.

A brief silence.

We pray for the church; that it may be freed from all that stands in the way of bold proclamation of the love of God. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for creation; that it may be freed from human abuse and restored to the glory in which is was first made. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for our leaders; that they may be freed from selfish ambition and shown true wisdom and humility. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all messengers of your word; that, like the archangel Michael, they may speak truth in the face of evil. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all who suffer; that they may be freed from their bondage to sickness and pain. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for this congregation; that we may be freed from feat and anxiety, and work for justice and peace in our communities. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Here other intercessions may be offered.

We pray for all the saints who have gone before us; free us from doubt and sin that we may join them in your heavenly presence. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Holy One, hear our prayers and make us faithful stewards of the fragile bounty of this earth so that we may be entrusted with the riches of heaven. Amen.

Prayers of Intercession:

(Introduction and Conclusion from Revised Common Lectionary Prayers, copyright © 2002)

Holy, holy, holy God, in calling forth creation from the void, revealing yourself in human flesh, and pouring forth your wisdom to guide us, you manifest your concern for your whole universe. You invite us, as your people, to gather the world’s needs into our hearts
and bring them before you.

A brief silence.

God of calling, bless all leaders of the church (especially Bishop(s)…) and grant them confidence that you can and do use them to work your will and your Word in the world. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of mountains and valleys, bless shepherds and ranchers and all who care for livestock and creation that their might be food enough for all. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of all nations, bless our leaders (especially President…, Governor…, etc.) that they might better see and hear the cries and groans of the oppressed and respond with compassion and care. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of all tribes, bless people of every race and background that we might always seek out paths of reconciliation and peace. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God who hears our cries, bless any who are suffering this day (especially,…) that they may know your power and trust in your holy Name as the source of all wholeness. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Here other intercessions may be offered.

God of our ancestors, bless the rest of all the saints who have gone before us and send us out to proclaim your liberating and redeeming word as you sent our spiritual ancestors to us. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Holy, holy, holy God, fill us with strength and courage, with discernment and compassion, that we may be your instruments of justice and love in this world, that it may be on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
