God of mercy and healing, you who hear the cries of those in need, receive these petitions of your people that all who are troubled may know peace, comfort, and courage.
A brief silence.
Protect the church from idolatries and heresies O God; deepen our faith and inspire preachers and teachers to proclaim your love and grace. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Protect plants and animals from devastation O God; open our eyes to the damage our systems inflict on creation and make us better stewards of all you have made. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Protect those without power or influence O God; reform our systems of justice and governance to better reflect your wisdom and compassion. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Protect our communities from divisions and conflict O God; and turn our hearts to welcome, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Protect all those in pain or suffering O God; grant them healing and hope in the midst of their tribulations. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Protect this assembly from selfishness and apathy O God; guide us in our ministries or service and love towards our neighbors. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Here other intercessions may be offered.
Protect the saints in light O God; bring all your people into your eternal and loving presence. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Life-giving God, heal our lives, that we may acknowledge your wonderful deeds and offer you thanks from generation to generation through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
