Let us pray for the needs of the church and the world to God who raised Jesus to new life.

A brief silence.

For the health of the church we pray O God of life. Strengthen our leaders, ministers, and assemblies that we may loudly proclaim the good news of life over death. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For fields and streams we pray O God of life. Bless plants and animals with bountiful life that your abundance be known throughout the world. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For the leaders of governments we pray O God of life. Grant our leaders wisdom and insight in the midst of chaotic and trying times. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For those experiencing anxiety or loneliness we pray O God of life. Show us how best to love and support our neighbors, especially those we don’t know well. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For those battling illness or pain we pray O God of life. Bring comfort and healing to all those who are in need. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For this congregation we pray O God of life. Deepen our discipleship and turn us ever outwards toward our neighbors. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For all the saints who now rest in you we pray O God of life. Use their example to keep us firm in walking the way of Christ. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Through the resurrection of your son, O God, you destroy the power of death and remove your people’s shame. By the power of the Spirit, raise us from sin and seat us at the paschal feast, that we may rejoice in the gift of salvation Jesus has won for us. Amen.

Prayers of Intercession:

(Introduction and Conclusion from Revised Common Lectionary Prayers, copyright © 2002)

Beloved friends, in this season of repentance and healing, we accept God’s invitation to be ever-mindful of the needs of others, offering our prayers on behalf of God’s community in the church and the world.

A brief silence.

Breathe life into the church, O Lord; inspiring us to works of freeing those oppressed by sin and death. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Wake the sleeping earth from slumber, O Lord; and provide your sustaining life to plants and animals. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Unbind the oppressed, O Lord; and move our leaders to acts of justice and freedom. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Comfort the grieving, O Lord; and work through us to better proclaim your care for all experiencing loss. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Restore all who suffer, O Lord; to health and wholeness in you. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Here other intercessions may be offered.

Bless all the saints, O Lord; and strengthen our faith in the resurrection hope we have in you. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Fill us with your strength to resist the seductions of our foolish desires and the tempter’s vain delights, that we may walk in obedience and righteousness, rejoicing in you with an upright heart. Amen.
