Prayers of Intercession:
(Introduction and Conclusion from Revised Common Lectionary Prayers, copyright © 2002)
Beloved friends, in this season of repentance and healing, we accept God’s invitation to be ever-mindful of the needs of others, offering our prayers on behalf of God’s community in the church and the world.
A brief silence.
For the church and its leaders; that we may better serve the needs of the people around us and proclaim Christ’s sacrificial love. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
For the earth and its creatures; that all living things may know God’s sustaining power and abundant life. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
For the nations of the world; that all people may pursue justice and reconciliation above power and exploitation. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
For all who serve; that they may feel Christ’s presence with them, encouraging and strengthening them. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
For those who are in pain; that God’s healing power provide miraculous healing, comfort, and peace. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Here other intercessions may be offered.
For all the saints who have gone before us (especially Deaconess Elizabeth Fedde, and …); that the witness of their service to others inspire our deeds and priorities. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Fill us with your strength to resist the seductions of our foolish desires and the tempter’s vain delights, that we may walk in obedience and righteousness, rejoicing in you with an upright heart. Amen.
